Is it enough to walk for about 45 - 60 min in the morning for the vitamin d requirements of the body? Should we expose the body (takeout maximum possible cloths) during the morning walk for getting v-d?

Dear Lybrateuser, - it is most important to expose skin to the sunlight for vit d manufacture by the body, if the sunlight is strong then 15-20 min is adequate.

Dear Lybrate User, while getting enough vitamin d is important, I would urge you to wear uv-a and uv-b sunscreen atleast 15 minutes before you enter sunlight. Use generous amounts of sunscreen to avoid risk of skin damage etc. Vitamin d can be raised naturally however supplementation of vit d in carefully calculated doses can be helpful. Excess vit d can cause increased calcium levels in blood. Supplementation of vit k is required in carfully selected patients as well. (please donot self medicate) use our recommended sunscreen. I personally use that product and it works well. By law the name of medicines cannot be mentioned on public forums, please get in touch via online consultation.
