A metabolic disorder, which is caused due to fluctuations of zinc uptake in the body is called Acrodermatitis Enteropathica. This condition is genetic in nature and is marked by periorificial dermatitis, diarrhea and alopecia. This condition takes place among infants and children aged below 12. Some of the signs of this condition would be dry, scaly skin and lesions. Discontinuance of breast feeding and fluctuations in zinc uptake can cause the condition. This disease develops into a fatal condition if left neglected.
