I am having a bp of 100/140, having telma 40 since a week but not much relief. Please advise.

dear lybrate user....according to latest guidelines for treatment of BP....it is recommended that combination of two medicines is better than single salt.so do one thing.inspite of tab.telma 40...start talking tab.telma-h 40....low salt diet.get lipid profile checked...check bp daily and revert back.

Measure bp only once every week on fixed days after resting for 10 minutes. This medicine requires 2 weeks for full effect.

Please understand medicines are only a part of comprehensive management of hypertension. Lifestyle changes like decreased salt consumption, regular exercise, managing weight, stopping alcohol, smoking, having a disciplined life, sound sleep for 7-8 hours, doing some relaxation activities like yoga, morning walk are all equally important as medicines. Get yourself evaluated for secondary causes of hypertension which are correctable like kidney disorders, thyroid problems, sleep apnoea. If despite all this your bp remains high a change or addition of medicines should be considered. Please visit a cardiologist nearby and be regular in taking medicines and follow up.
