Eating more sugar or drinking tea with sugar bothe can be equally responsible for gaining weight or gaining fat. Also what is important to consider is what your eating is causing weight gain, is it the fat content in the pastries (trans fats) or even high fat milk in the tea. The combination of sugars with fats are not the best option to have and is most likely to cause fat gain. Also it would help to try to replace sugar with honey, organic jaggery or stevia aor at best no sugar at all as sugar has empty calories and is non nutritious due to its refined nature and should be restricted as much as possible in intake. It would also help to have dates figs raisins for sugar cravings as a substitute to sugary items.
