Hello dear Doctor, I myself Sandeep 43 years old, I am a diabetic since last 5 years, when I was diagnosed as a diabetic my sugar level was 209 fasting & 396 pp .doctor prescribed me Amaryal 1 mg in the morning & metformin 500 with lunch and dinner. Now my average sugar level is 129 fasting 155 pp .my question is long time use this type medicine can harm me more than good? Can I protect my self over the time diabetic complication? From my mother side 9 out 10 people's are Diabetic. My 2nd question is can I use any herbal diabetic products with this allopathy medicine? Please answer my question doctor, I am very much worry about the diabetic complication. Because still I can't forgot my mother pathetic death due to diabetic complication .please doctor help me with your valuable opinion.

Mr. lybrate-user Gupta, Thanks for the query. I have gone through the details given. Your present glucose levels are very good. It would have been better if you had given the HbA1c% also. As regards the long term complications associated with diabetes, when control is very good (fasting < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% < 6.8), one can postpone those effectively for a very long time. With exemplary control one may not get those. But that can not be predicted. What is essential is to keep glucose levels with in specified limits. Another important aspect is that it s essential to exercise regularly and keep the weight in check. That is very much helpful. Thanks.
