My father who is 76 years old and Heart patient with Automatic Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (AICD) implanted. Recently, he has been detected with a hernia. Some 8 years back he had a successful hernia operation. We consulted a few doctors who suggested to avoid the operation and live with care considering his age and other things like general anesthesia could have make heart failure .At present, he is taking care not to exert himself and we have not yet done operation. After getting contrasting advice from doctors, we are totally confused on the line of treatment. Can you please advice the kind of surgery we should go in for?

Considering his age and cardiac condition is advisable not to go for a surgery and manage carefully. In expert hands keyhole surgery may be tried if the surgeon is acceptable.
