My dad is 59 he is diabetic when ever he checks it's shows only 89 we are confused he is diabetic or No can he stop tablets? He eats jaggery is it ok.

Hello, Thank you for the query. Please get an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT), that will give a clear idea whether there is diabetes and also get HbA1c% test done. Thanks.

Go for a thorough check up and detailed tests - Fasting, PP, HbA1c, urine routine etc. Discuss about his health and all the other details (past history and treatment history etc ). After the assessment, the doctor can give the proper advise. You can always update all the details here for more clarification. For more knowledge, read from the internet (diabetes and it's management) and take all the precautions like healthy eating habits, daily exercise and learn some relaxation techniques to keep the stress away.

Your dad is already taking medicine and he is getting this report with medicines. If he was not taking medicines then his report would have been different (increased value). So chances are he is diabetic What was his blood report when he started medicine. Since when is he taking medicines No he can not take sugar (jaggery etc.) in any form.
