I have read at many times that one of the symptoms of Diabetes is Loosing weight. But on the other side most people with diabetes are over weight. And it is advised to control weight to avoid diabetes. Is this a contradiction or I am unable to understand it?

Hello, Thanks for the query. Obesity or even being overweight and inactive is an invitation for diabetes. Particularly central obesity {being fat around abdomen}, this fat causes severe insulin resistance. Inactivity further increases fat and insulin resistance. When diabetes develops, there's excess glucose in blood. When glucose level goes above 180 mg, kidneys are unable to re-absorb. So person starts loosing glucose in urine This leads to loss of energy and when diabetes remains undetected for quite some time, the person starts loosing weight. Also develops severe tiredness. Once blood glucose is stabilised, then weight loss is controlled. Thanks.
