Yes drinking excess water leads to toxicity and finally obesity. More potassium in body maintains the electrolytic balance of sodium potassium in body, as a result excess sodium flushes out which in excess leads to water retention, so it removes water retention and leads to weight gain. But this only reason should not be the reason to increase potassium in diet. There are many more reasons which leads to weight gain.
