I am suffering from whitecoat hypertension, I am taking bp tablet olmesartan h 20. My first bp reading shows little bit high after 5 minutes taking many readings they shows very normal. Pls suggest me which reading should be consider. First or afterwards that is 2,3,4 and etc. For ex 1 reading 144/80 2 reading 130/82 3 reading 117/75 During first reading I am very anxious and nervous.

Dear lybrateuser, - You can take the average of the three readings as your blood pressure - rest for 5 min before taking bp, also can measure with a mercury sphygmomanometer ( bp apparatus) for accurate reading .

Measure BP once every month on fixed date after resting for ten minutes. If it is high, rest for 5 mins more and recheck. Ambulatory BP machines are also helpful for white coat patients. You can get 24 hrs ambulatory BP every 9 months or so,
