My mom is suffering from depression. She is like don't want to work and get retired at an early age, she tells everyone that she is not capable of doing her work which she was doing it for last 15 years. She always feels low and never want to consult a doctor saying she is completely alright. What should I do please tell me. I have shown her to a physician who gave petril 0.5 mg, fludac 60 mg and licab 300 tablets.

Dear lybrate-user, Please request your physician to refer her to a psychiatrist. If she is still not willing, ask the physician to consult a psychiatrist colleague to optimise the treatment. Remember that Fludac takes 2-3 weeks to act. Licarb is usually prescribed for Bipolar Affective Disorder as a mood stabiliser. One has to monitor the serum lithium level regularly for better benefit. In the meanwhile, please talk to her employer about the treatment and see that her retirement request is kept pending.
