My father is a tobacco edict and had a cancer operation 4 years back. He is still not able to quit tobacco and has early stage of mouth cancer again. In biopsy report it says bacterial infection. Please advise if this can be cured without operation? How to let my father quit tobacco forcefully?

Dear Lybrate user, Infections usually does not need surgery. But given your father's history of cancer, you need to be careful and rule out recurrence. To quit tobacco, the initiative has to be from your father. You can seek the help of a counselor and medications are also available that will help. Consult your oncologist.
