One of my friends did liver function test two times. Earlier his SGOT is 153 and SGPT 253. But after having prescribed medicine for 2 months his SGOT is 106 and SGPT is 236. Doctor said that if it is remain like this liver cirrhosis will occur. He is very tensed .earlier he was an alcoholic but he drank occasionally. But while having medicine for two months he did not drink a drop of alcohol. Can anyone give suggestion what is happening with him. Why levels are almost same after having medicine .what will happen if the levels remain same? Please help him .I need a proper answer.

Do your friend have any habits like smoking or was he on any allopathic medication some of which like antimalarial medicines and some pain killers could lead to high Sgot or sgpt. Try consulting a doctor and get it diagnosed first that why does he have such a problem and then we could advise you accordingly. In the mean while he should eat food with lot of gibera like fruits green vegetables, lots of salads. Avoid smoking drinking, oily spicy non veg completely for a few days till the reports are again normal. Drink plenty of boiled water with Dalchini and Pudina.

Though your friend has stopped alcohol recently, liver takes some to recover from the damage done to it in the past. You have not mentioned the duration and quantity of alcohol. Also get your friend tested for Hepatitis B and C. Better see local gastroenterologist.
