What is the best diet for diabetic patient as the patient have fasting sugar 130 and pp 180. Please share if there is any medicine.

Dear lybrateuser, -Have a well balanced diet including vegetables, fruits( avoid banana, chickoo mangoes, grapes as they contain more sugars), have citrus fruits, berries, pear, guava, apples, have whole grains instead of processed ones( whole wheat, brown rice, oats, quinoa, corn), low fat milk & milk products like yogurt, paneer, butter milk, tofu, legumes including beans, lentils, pulses, sprouts, nuts such as almonds, walnuts, cashew, pista(only one handful a day), lean meats( seafood & skinless chicken) - combine a carbohydrate with a protein food to stabilize your blood sugar, have a protein snack in between meals, chew your food well, have 5-6 small meals rather than three large meals - avoid fried, processed, sweets, junk foods, also foods containing saturated & trans fats.

Because of Insulin deficieny or resistance a diabetic patient is unable to utilise sugar. Hence he should avoid sugar, jaggery,honey, sweets sweet fruits like banana mangoe grapes cheekoo etc. Diet should be rich in fibres and meals should be small and frequent. Regular exercise is equally important. If not controlled with diet and exercise then please consult a physician who will clinically evaluate the patient and suggest corrcet medicine.
