Dear Lybrate user, the baking soda home remedy is usually followed for whitening the teeth. It does not help to get rid of bad breath. Consult your dentist to get a checkup and know the exact cause of bad breath. T\he reasons can be- A decayed tooth, gum disease, plaque build up, unclean tongue, reduced salivary secretion (dry mouth) etc. The dentist would advise you to go for a treatment relevant to the cause. In case of decay, get a filling or root canal treatment done. In case of gum disease, get a scaling/ professional cleaning done. Rinse your mouth after every meal and brush twice daily using a fluoride toothpaste. You can also use a mouthwash for 15 days after scaling. Chew sugarfree gums like orbit after meals. Saunf (fennel) and pudina (mint leaves) are natural breath fresheners and also enhance saliva production. Drink plenty of water and fluids.
