What Is Prostate Gland?
What Is Prostate Gland?

Hello,

I am Dr. Upwan K Chauhan, Urologist. Today I will talk about prostate gland. The prostate gland is the gland which is situated below the urinary bladder and its size is of walnut. After the age of 45, it starts increasing in size and surrounds the urethra. It compresses the urinary passage and causes symptoms which are getting up in the nigh fo more than 3 times, incomplete evacuation of the bladder, frequency or urge to pass urine. When these symptoms arise after 45-50 years of age, the patient has these symptoms and he should always contact our Dr about these. The diagnosis is made on the basis of the ultrasound glands, we see the PAS and the urine flow also. The prostate glands, when it grows in size, it causes the obstruction and causes the urinary infection and irritative fluids. When these patients come to us they have lower urinary tract symptoms. Sometimes these patients when they present late, they may have repeated infections, UTI repeatedly. When they have not paid the attention to it, even in the creatinine level or CKD can happen.

The patient requires an initial evaluation and then the medicines are given. Medicines relax the bladder and the patient starts to urinate well. 60-70% of patients may respond to these drugs. Ultimately, when the symptoms are continuing and it is affecting the lifestyle of the patient then he may require the operation for it. Nowadays operations are done endoscopically. Cutting can be done with the laser or KTP laser. For this operation, the patient is admitted for 2-3 days. The catheter is placed and the next day it is removed. The patient's symptoms go away and he pees well. So, after 45-50 years, the patient should definitely get his PSA checked and ultrasound so that the symptoms can be detected early. For prostatic health, the most important thing is exercise and he should take a low-fat diet and take a lot of green vegetables.

Thank you.

Things To Know About Kidney Transplant!
Things To Know About Kidney Transplant!

Hello,

I am Dr. Upwan K Chauhan, Urologist. Today I will talk about kidney transplant. Chronic kidney disease i.e. kidney failure is becoming a common disease nowadays due to the pollution, drugs, intake of certain chemicals and kidney disease is becoming rampant nowadays. If kidney disease can be diagnosed in the early days then it can be managed for some time with the help of the medicines that means you have to manage your blood pressure, sugar and you should decrease the salt intake But when both the kidneys failed that means creatinine starts rising and the patient will have the symptoms of asthenia, weakness, body ache and breathing difficulty and also decrease in urine discharge.

Jab ye sab lakshan aane shuru hote hain then chronic kidney disease has become a type 5. In such cases, the patient will either require to go for the dialysis or he will require a kidney transplant. It can be done easily nowadays and the most important thing is that we need a related donor. In the same blood group when kidney is donated, it gives the good result. But nowadays it can be done with the different blood groups. The cost is high but the success rate is similar. After transplantation, he has a normal life. The most important thing after the kidney transplant that he has to take the regular doses of the medicines then the only kidney would be perfectly fine. The donor is also perfectly fine and after 3-4 weeks he is as normal as before. He does not have to take any medicines. Only the patient has to take immunosuppression for life long for proper functioning. He needs to be very careful about the food that it is completely hygienic and clean, also a healthy one.

Thank You.
