I am a diabetic for 23 years. I have been taking medicines from the beginning and insulin (for the last 5 years). My sugar level used to be around 170 and 210 (fasting and pp resp). Sometimes it was more also. But I was recently diagnosed with umbilical hernia. When I was preparing for surgery, during the routine check up the doctors found a block in an artery and hence I underwent angioplasty. My hernia problem is still there and doctors advised me that I may have to wait for another 8-10 months for surgery. In the meanwhile my sugar level started going down to the extent that I have to stop my insulin. Also I am unable to take my regular metformin tablets (i take around 2000 mg per day). I get frequent incidence of low sugar symptoms. My question is whether umbilical hernia is causing the reduction in sugar level. If not why there is near normal sugar level (fasting around 90 and pp 135).

The change in sugar levels could be due to several factors, including stress, changes in diet, or medication. Umbilical hernia is unlikely the direct cause of reduced sugar levels. Homeopathic remedies like uranium nitricum or cephalandra indica might support your diabetes management,
