Hi, I recently diagnosed hypertension. Doc suggested to take no medicine every day. I don't want to make it habit but my average body is around 140/90. Pls suggest.

Dear lybrateuser, - Try to control & lower your BP by lifestyle changes as advised by your doctor - have a salt restricted diet, avoid fried & fat containing foods, also pickles, papads & namkeens, also avoid more than 1-2 cups of tea, coffee per day , alcohol & smoking - have more of fibre containing foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, have low fat dairy & heart healthy fats as in fish, nuts, avocados, olive & canola oil for cooking, flax & chia seeds - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, also yoga, meditation to relax your mind and body - sleep well for at least seven to eight hours at night, keep your sleep & wake up time fixed - monitor BP regularly, try to reduce weight by diet and exercise.
