Hello, I'm 46 yes old male. Today morning when I got up my lips, neck,hip, thigh were swollen and it was itching considerably. This is 4th time its happening like this. I conducted CBC test and report showed total count: 4200,Hemoglobin: 13,Platelet count221000, MPV 6.7.is it normal?

This is a condition called Urticaria. Means sudden onset of swelling or raised skin area with or without itching. Usually urticaria is two types Acute Urticaria and Chronic spontaneous Urticaria. In Kerala, most acute Urticaria is caused by mild viral infections. Patients may have mild sore throat or cough also may present along with allergic symptoms. Certain foods and certain allopathy medicines such as used as pain killers are also triggers Urticaria. Due to short duration of symptoms and also it?s self limiting, patients are usually ignored these conditions. In these conditions, as your blood results no relevant changes shows. If it is caused by certain drugs or food item, there will be mild changes in IgE antibodies, if we test it. But if it is caused by viral infections, usually there will not be any changes in blood test. Based on the symptoms, recurrence, medications and food style, we can diagnose the real cause of sudden onset of Urticaria. In chronic Spontaneous Urticaria, there is recurrent onset of relapses. Most of patients have similar relapse of symptoms more than one year. This also should be treated based on the causative factor or triggering factor. In this conditions, frequency, severity, area affected, any systemic symptoms such as breathing difficulties, head ache ,gastric symptoms such as flatulence, constipation, any medications such as pain killers, hormonal Tablets, eye or ear drops, laxatives etc should be considered. In this conditions ESR and CRP are the tests we have to perform. In Ayurveda it?s called Seetha Pritham, and its a treatable and curable condition. Please consult with your details.
