I'm a patient having hypothyroidism. Currently on 75 mcg Thyroxine tablets. Overdosed on the tablets - had the same dosage of 75 mcg again after my breakfast by mistake. Will this cause any problems I need to take measures against?

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Taking a single tablet extra is unlikely to cause any problem. Plus if taken after breakfast it is unlikely to be absorbed to full extent. So there is no reason to worry. But ideally it is essential to take the tablet on empty stomach first thing in the morning and nothing should be taken for at least 1 to 1 and half hour. Plus TSH should be maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L, to be free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Thanks,
