What is the remedy about?

Irregularity in the heartbeat can be termed as Heart palpitations. They are characterized by a feeling of slower heart beat and fluttering heart beat. They last for a few seconds to several hours. There are many known conditions for such scenarios. Low blood sugar, high levels of anxiety; strenuous exercise, excessive intake of caffeine, drugs or alcohol- can all be a reason for such palpitations. Seek medical attention immediately if the problem persists for a longer duration. Alternatively you can try out these home remedies to control them to an extent.

  • 1. Valsalva Maneuver
This is one of the ancient techniques that can help restore a fast beating heart to normal rhythm. First, pinch your nose, close your mouth and then try to breathe out forcibly. This will first increase your heart rate and then gradually decrease it. Repeat it for a few times. In case you have heart disease, do not try out this method.
  • 2. Coughing
Coughing vigorously and continuously for a few minutes can break the symptoms of palpitations. It even causes pressure to build in your chest and can get back your heart beat normally. Use this method with extreme caution and in case you do have sinus problems try avoiding this method.
  • 3. Deep Breathing
Deep breathing is also one of the excellent ways to deal with heart palpitations. It helps in relaxing the body and thus makes your heart undergo the standard rhythm pattern. First sit comfortably and then close your eyes. Take deep slow breaths. Count to three and then release it slowly through your mouth. Repeat this till you heat rate comes back to normal.
  • Heart palpitations can be serious in some cases. If these remedies do not help out, seek medical help immediately.

Go for regular checkups to make sure that your heart is healthy.

    What are the post-remedy guidelines?

Don't undertake strenuous activities after following such home remedies. They might not be good for your heart. Drink suffcient water to keep your body hydrated and to feel cool. In case you are suffering from stress, practice meditation and take up relaxing hobbies to deal with it. Cut back on smoking and drinking immediately. Please check with your doctor if the conditions still prevail after the home treatments.

How long does it take to recover?

Your recovery depends on the condition of your heart and how effectively you can undertake the remedies shown here. In many instances, the conditions might reduce but you might still face some instances of palpitations. So consult with your doctor about the work that you may be permitted to do. Are the results of the remedy permanent?

Results of these home remedies may vary from person to person. Palpitations are known to occur even if you had recovered completely before. Hence ensure that your body stays hydrated and active. Palpitations - How With Homeopathic Remedies You Can Manage Them?

The heart may sometimes face excessive fluttering or a throbbing sensation, which may make you feel uncomfortable. Such sudden throbbing sensations resulting in discomfort are called 'palpitations'. Homeopathy has some great remedies depending on the cause of these problems.

Let’s have a look at these:

    1. Palpitations caused by anxiety: This is one of the top causes for palpitations which occur before sitting for an exam, interview or before important events of your life. However, they may tend to stay longer and it is advisable that you control them with the use of Aconite or Arsenic Album.
    2. Palpitations caused by Physical exertion: If you have a weakened heart or if you smoke and thus tend to feel a lot of exertion even with the slightest of physical efforts, then Spigelia, Iberis and Digitalis are good medications. Digitalis is especially good for palpitations caused by the slightest of movements, while spigelia is very good with palpitations that cause arm pain as well.
    3. Anemia: Anemia or the lack of red blood cells can be very dangerous for your health as it can damage your vital organs. It can also cause palpitations along with other symptoms such as paleness, lack of strength and drowsiness. Natrum Mur and Ferrum Met are two of the most effective remedies in such cases.
    4. Use of tobacco products: Another reason for palpitations developing is the use of tobacco products, such as cigarettes or chewing tobacco. In such cases, palpitations may occur even with the slightest of exertions or at rest. Medications effective in such situations are Kalmia, Tabacum and Convallaria. These variations may be required depending on the types of symptoms you may show such as a quick heart rate or a slow heart rate.
    5. A palpitation caused by hyperthyroidism: Excessive secretion of thyroid is called hyperthyroidism and can cause a host of problems within the body including palpitation. Iodum and Spongia are two excellent medications in treating variations of palpitations caused by an over active thyroid gland.
    6. Palpitations caused by acidity or gastric problems: This is possibly the most common cause for palpitations and Lycopodium as well as Abies Can are two very effective homeopathic medications, which can easily remedy the situation, depending on the type of problems you are having. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a homeopath.

    All About Palpitations!

    What is Palpitation?
Palpitation is a feeling of awareness of your own heart beat. It is usually described as heart rate being either too fast (racing), too slow or a sensation of missing a beat.

    Types of palpitations?

    Normal (Benign)

    1. These palpitations occur as a response to physical or mental stress like exercise, fever, pain, fear, anxiety etc.
    2. They are harmless and settle on their own once the precipitating factors disappear. They do not require any medical treatment.

    Abnormal

    1. These palpitations occur due to some underlying abnormality in either the structure of heart or the beating of heart.
    2. These can be dangerous and at times life threatening. They may or may not settle on their own and require some medical treatment.

Warning signs that suggest palpitations are abnormal?
Palpitations are abnormal, if they are associated with chest heaviness, chest pain, uneasiness, sweating, weakness, giddiness, feeling of black out, fainting, nausea, vomiting, seizures. Palpitations are more likely to be abnormal in people who have some existing heart disease and these patients should report to their doctor at the earliest.

    What to do during palpitations?

    1. Stay calm.
    2. Call for help. If u are alone avoid driving, use a taxi or auto, go to your nearest hospital/doctor and try to get an ECG during the palpitations. If you are helping someone having palpitations, if they faint, call for help, start CPR if they remain unresponsive and take them to the nearest hospital.

    Which doctor can treat palpitations?
Doctors who specialise in the treatment of palpitations are called Electrophysiologists. They specialise in heart rhythm and are capable of performing a variety of complex tests to identify and treat different types of palpitations.

Which investigations are used to diagnose palpitations?

    • ECG: Taken during palpitations and when the patient is normal is a very helpful tool.
    • Holter: Externally applied recorder, which continuously records heart rhythm for 24 hrs.
    • ELR: Extended loop recorder, is like holter, but it records rhythm for longer durations.
    • ILR:  Internal loop recorder is attached within the body for recording rhythm for long duration.
    • EPS: Electrophysiology study, is the most sure shot test to diagnose, identify and treat Palpitations.

    What is EPS?
EPS stands for Electrophysiology study. By this test a trained Electrophysiologist studies the conduction and formation system of heart beat, to understand the source, cause and type of palpitation. It is a simple and safe procedure of 2 to 3 hours and can be done as a day care procedure (by admitting the patient for a few hours in hospital, with discharge on same day).

It requires fasting for 4 hrs, some standard blood investigations and is done with local anaesthesia and if required it can be combined with treatment like ablation in the same sitting. In the procedure Electrophysiologist take catheters into your heart to study and stimulate the palpitations and understand them. Once found they can use various techniques to stop the palpitations, the techniques are called Ablation.

What are the treatment options available for palpitations?
There are many options depending upon the nature of palpitations and condition of the patient:

    1. Drug therapy
    2. Cardioversion where either a drug or electric shock is given to stop palpitations immediately.
    • Ablations using many sophisticated computer softwares
    • Device Therapy like ICD (Internal cardiac defibrillator)
    • Combination of all the above therapies. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Cardiologist.

Hello sir, I am 20 years adult from past week's I am suffering from sleeping disorder at particular time I get awake and also on going to bed my heart palpitation increases causing sleeping disorder pls suggest an home remedies or medicines for particular.

MBBS, MD, DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
    Homeopath, Indore
For good sleep, just try out these simple ways - 1. Stick to a sleep schedule- Go to bed and get up at the same time every day. Try to limit the difference in your sleep schedule on weeknights and weekends to no more than one hour. Being consistent reinforces your body's sleep-wake cycle. If you don't fall asleep within about 20 minutes, leave your bedroom and do something relaxing. Read or listen to soothing music. Go back to bed when you're tired. Repeat as needed. 2. Pay attention to what you eat and drink - Don't go to bed hungry or stuffed. In particular, avoid heavy or large meals within a couple of hours of bedtime. Your discomfort might keep you up. Nicotine, caffeine and alcohol deserve caution, too. 3. Create a restful environment - Avoid prolonged use of light-emitting screens just before bedtime. Consider using room-darkening shades, earplugs, a fan or other devices to create an environment that suits your needs. Doing calming activities before bedtime, such as taking a bath or using relaxation techniques, might promote better sleep. 4. Limit daytime naps - Long daytime naps can interfere with nighttime sleep. If you choose to nap, limit yourself to up to 30 minutes and avoid doing so late in the day. 5. Include physical activity in your daily routine - Regular physical activity can promote better sleep 6. Manage worries - Try to resolve your worries or concerns before bedtime. Stress management might help. Start with the basics, such as getting organized, setting priorities and delegating tasks. Meditation also can ease anxiety. Identifying and treating any underlying causes can help you get the better sleep you deserve. If above things doesn't help you, then consult us for homeopathic medicines.

    Homeopathy Constitutional Remedies
Know how Homeopathy constitutional remedies can cure Chronic cases

Hi, I m Dr. Monty Talwar, practicing in Gurgaon, I have an experience of about 20 years in homeopathy, I practice classical homeopathy wherein we take into account the patient s nature and temperament especially in chronic cases. The constitutional cases are very deep-acting and they will stimulate the immune system of the patient. Thereby, the patient s body fights on its own, so we are not providing a continuous stimulus or a medicine from outside as the body takes charge of itself.

The example in thyroid cases, especially in hypothyroidism when we give the constitutional medicine it stimulates the thyroid gland so that it starts secreting the hormone on its own. As a result, the patient can be off the thyroid medicine. Similarly, in frequent colds and coughs in children where they fall sick too often, so these medicines build up the immunity of the child, so that they do not fall sick that often. Because of this individualistic approach, homeopathy is considered to be a holistic science.

    Acidity - Causes & Remedies
    Hello!

I am Dr. Malvika Pandey. Ayurveda doctor. Working in Bnchy Wellness Medispa.

Here I am to discuss something about a very common health problem that is acidity. In Ayurveda, this is understood as Amlipitam. This diseases is very common in today s generation because of the common issues which are propounding it lari vari shari kari. Acidity is due to more excess, excess of acid production in gastrointestinal tract overs. Normally the pH of stomach remains acidic. But in hyper acidic condition it gets escalated. For this it results in the conditions like heartburns, dyspepsia, belching and sometime bloating of stomach. Which can be easily seen and felt by the patient as symptoms and doctor can examine in the form of science.

The basic reasons for acidity is stressful conditions, we are living in, and insufficient sleeps, irregular way of taking meals. And also the suppression of our urges. These all conditions lead to aggravation of dosha, basically the pita dosha. And the stomach which is basically concern with the pita dosha is affected the most. And also the first part of intestine that is the duodenum which is very much involved in this. And the basic symptoms which occur in this diseases are belching. Heart burn, bloating heaviness of the stomach itching. Headache and even in the later stages it can seen as ulceration.

So how can we cure this disease? The thing which is very important in Ayurveda is prevention is better than cure. So better to prevent it. Better to get into the things which can check the excess of pita dosha which is known as the pit prokap ahar vehar. We should check it on. For this in Ayurveda we are getting two ways. It can be saan shodhan chikatsha, it can be sanshaman chikatsha. In sanshaman chikatsha which is basically concerned with suppression of the aggravated doshas. In this the pit shamak oshadi like, the yashti madhu, the shadang pani of course they are included in the diet of the patient. And vehara the things which areegated pita like kordha, kama. All the thing which increases the pita should be contained. And in the saan shodhan chikatsha, we do the eradication of dosha. In sanshaman, we suppress the dosha. In saan shodhan we eradicate the dosha out from the body by the usage of panchakarma chikatsha. Which is compressing of sneehan sheden waman geychannan basti.

For this pit dosha. It is basically concerned with the verachan chikatsha. In this the proper procedure of sneehan sheden. Then vaman is given to the patient. Vaman is, means incorporated. And later on lastly the verachan chikatsha is done. It is best for the pita shaman.
