Dear Doctor, this is regarding my mother who is 67. Around November 15, she started experiencing pain in her hips. She also had fever on December 2 and subsequently lost taste. Everything tasted bitter. We consulted a doctor who advised many blood tests. My mother also suffers from rheumatism. She experiences some joint pain in winter. The doctor found out vitamin deficiency. My mother was administered 8 B12 and 4 D vitamin injections. The pain in the hips is reduced and she is now able to walk at home. She was bed ridden at the onset of all this. While the situation is better now. She has still not recovered the normal taste in her mouth. The injections were administered over a period of 1 month. I read some material online and it suggested that such a condition can last from 3 to 6 months. My mother has a sweetish taste in her mouth. Sweet food tastes very sweet and all the other food tastes bitter. She is unable to eat normally and is feeling weak. Can you please help us. Thank-you Janhavi B.
