Proteins are building blocks of life and hence gym going men are suggested to take them, to enable growth of muscles. The usual requirement of protein is 1-2gm/kg body weight per day. This is usially met in good balanced diet. Most Indian diet are deficient in proteins, so adding protein rich food in diet is better e.g pulses, meat, egg, sprouts,.....rather than going for protein powders. Excess intake of proten makes the body burdened with its destruction and it mau raise blood levels of Urea, creatinine and uric acid....due to the harm caused to kidneys. If you are going to be a professional body builder, only then one needs to have excess protein. otherwise adding protein powder just to build muscle is harmful. It doesnt affect your sex life. usually gym trainers also suggest taking steroids or testosterone to build up stamina and muscle. These steroids are harmful. avoid them.
