Type-2 diabetes patients on insulin should monitor their blood glucose using glucometer at home at least 3 times per week. Bllod glucose can be checked pre meals or 2 hours post meals. Laboratory corroboration of the glucometer readings should be done once mothly. Apart from it whenever once get symptoms suggestive of hypoglycemia, blood glucose should be checked with glucometer before taking extra sugar or sweets. Hence its a good practice to carry glucometer with yourself when one is out of home.

Recommended frequency is weekly test means on monday fasting blood sugar, on tuesday pre-breakfast sugar test, on wednesday post breakfast, on thursday prelunch testing, on friday post lunch testing, on saturday pre dinner testing and sunday post dinner testing. Means seven times in a week. But if you take controlled diet you can do it on your ease.
