I am 55 Yrs old I Suffered from clinical depression, for nearly18 years I took treatment from psychiatrists, and was also given lithium treatment. Lithium levels was low in my blood. Now I am OK, But I am scared about a relapse. Please advise.

Lithium is usually given in Bipolar disorder and in some psychiatric disorder like depression, psychosis etc as augmenting agent. But a specific blood level is required to produce its effect. Also you have to know about its toxicity. Drink plenty of water. Always ask doctors prior to taking other medication especially pain killers. Perform regular test for serum lithium level.
