Hi, My dad has diabetics. and now he is suffering from some kind of burning sensation through his legs. He has been taking several treats and medicines. Its been quite few months now. But we do not see any improvements. Need advise as why this happens and any ayurvedic treatments.

Hi, Your dad is suffering with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Chronically high blood glucose can affect nerves of arms/hands, legs and feet. Patients can experience symptoms like burning sensation, pin prick sensation, stabbing pain, numbness etc of their hands and feet and if severe may go to the arms and legs too. Management; 1) Good control of blood glucose with proper diet, exercise and diabetic medications.Once the nerves are affected, they may not fully recover, but atleast his condition will not worsen and sometimes his symptoms will improve too. 2) There are medicines which can help with the neuropathy. They can be taken orally or can be use as creams. please check with your doctor. 3) In some patients acupuncture and physiotherapy have also worked. Hope this helps you Thank you
