My father and mother age is 63 and 60 respectively. Their weights are 72 and 70. They are good and healthy, they don't have BP and diabetes. Kindly suggest which type of diet is recommended. What type of food is best for their health. Please suggest .Thanks in advance.
Assuming ecg &blood sugar is ok, you can go for optimum rice with curry &at best three day a week fish/egg&pulses on the other day for the lunch &ruti/chapati at dinner with curry &pulse /fish (light diet) is sufficient but adequate water intake &little free hand exercise are needed.
Their calorie requirement at this age is lesser than normal individuals. They must be given frequent small meals through out the day to keep their energy levels and to balance sugar levels. 2 fruits every day and some salads too. Avoid too heavy or creamy or fried foods . Your mother may need to lose a bit of weight. For a personalised diet plan you can consult with me on online .
Calcium and Vitamin D. Older adults need more calcium and vitamin D to help maintain bone health. Have three servings of vitamin D-fortified low-fat or fat-free milk or yogurt each day. Other calcium-rich foods include fortified cereals and fruit juices, dark green leafy vegetables and canned fish with soft bones.
Milk contains nine of these essential nutrients. The nine essential nutrients found in milk are calcium, potassium, phosphorus, protein, vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin B12, riboflavin, and niacin. Each of these nutrients is a key ingredient of milk, and they all work together to help keep our bodies healthy.
The same source reports that women older than age 50 need 1,600 calories if they are sedentary, 1,800 calories if they are moderately active and 2,000 to 2,200 calories per day to maintain a healthy body weight if they lead an active lifestyle.
Diet is often referred to as some dietary regimen for losing weight. However, diet simply means what food we eat in the course of a 24-hour, one week, or one month, etc. Period. A good diet is a nutritional lifestyle that promotes good health.
