I am a diabetics person of type 2 ???????? of 74 years age. I am taking metformin 1000 mg sustained release tablets combine with glimepiride 2 mg tablet of generic medicine shop before 20 to 30 minutes prior to lunch meal at about 10 am daily since last 9 yrs. Kindly intimate the right & correct time of taking above medicine for taking daily lunch. Thanks.

You have not given your sugar reports please get urea and creatinine also as meformin should be stopped if creatinine rises above 1.5 mg secondly if you are happy with glimlpride 2 mg it is good but you have not given the dose whether it is once or twice a day at your age one should be careful for hypoglycemia with glimipride and I suggest you take 1 mg glimipride twice a day, 20-30 minutes before meals and metformin with or just after meals but if you are taking combination of above two drugs then take it 20-30 minutes before meals.
