My random blood sugar is around 280 from last 3 months. I am taking restricted diet and not taking sugar in any form. I use to walk 5 Kms in morning, yoga for around 45 minutes and play Table tennis for hour in evening. Now my sugar levels are around 210 (random). What more I can do in order to keep my sugar levels normal without medicine? Kindly suggest.

Dear sir, don't hesitate in taking medication. Once the sugar levels are with in normal range you can reduce or stop this. Also check your blood lipid profile. Few vegetables like karela, jamun, menthi reduce blood sugar considerably. Tell your thinking about not taking medication. To guide further. Diabetes or high sugar levels damage other systems of body silently. So be aware and take care.

Mr. Lybrate-user, there is no way one can control blood sugar once diabetes has fully developed with pp sugar going above 200 mg. If you do not want to take medicine, then it is impossible to bring back blood sugar to normal. Random 210 mg is very high level. It signifies uncontrolled diabetes. Please check hba1c% also. Diet and exercise do help in reducing sugar level, but once diabetes is diagnosed, again I am emphasising treatment is essential. Otherwise you are inviting long term complications of diabetes which affect eyes (retina), kidneys, lower limbs, nerves and heart. I hope you understand. Thanks for the question.
