I have been prescribed venlor-xr 37.5 and petril 20 beta. I have hypertension and at the time of prescribing these medicines both my pulse rate and bp were high but whenever I test my blood pressure myself, my pulse rate is always normal (74 being lowest and 94 being highest). Should I still take these medicines? I don't think my stress is high enough to consume meds. I had visited the psychiatrist for trouble concentrating, remember things and thinking properly.

When your doc checks BP, initial reading may be high due to anxiety factor. This is called "white coat" effect. After some time time, the reading will come to actual level .

Hi. Both the tablets that you have been prescribed are for anxiety disorder and not hypertension (high bp). It may be that since you are taking medicines the pulse rate is showing normal and if you discontinue it might increase.in your case I would advise you to continue medicine along with some counseling since you seem to have anxiety inspired of meds.
