I have been taking gluconorm pg 2 in the morning and istamet 500 mg in the evening. After 1 and 1/2 yr, it has stopped working. Hence I substituted my morning tablet with gemer forte 1 which an earlier doctor had given (that too had stopped working after 2 yrs). It started to work, but now after 2 months, it has stopped working and my blood sugar has risen from the past 10 days. It is anywhere between 275 and 350 in the mornings both prep and postp. Can you please advice. I'm 60 years old female. 4 times doctors have changed my medication, it works for maximum 2 years and then the medicine stops working on me.

lybrate-user ji, thanks for the query. I have gone through the details mentioned. However, the information is very inadequate. Please clarify what do you mean by "it has stopped working" tablet glycomet gp 2 & gemer 1 forte have same ingredients and forte has more metformin and less glimiperide. Unless actual glucose levels are given plus hba1c%, it is difficult to comment. Another major issue is with a bmi of 31.03 kgs/sq meter you are already in grade 1 obesity and have an excess of over 18 kg weight. This is the major obstacle for proper glucose control. So there is a need to look at all the details like fasting, pp glucose, hba1c%, dietary pattern, extent of daily exercise, lipid profile, serum creatinine and urea plus bp. After going through all the information a proper treatment can be advised. Thanks.
