Hi I am talking on behalf of my mum , 46, f she is having 177-190 (sys) and 110 (dia) pressure for last 7-8 hrs complains of heaviness in head and tightness in abdomen region. She is on metocard xl25. She is a cancer patient at present stable and on maintenance with bevacizumab. At present I want to understand the weight of this situation and if it's a emergency or should I wait after a 30 mins of relax.

First make sure you relax her for 10 mins by making her lie down for 10 mins then once she s relaxed check her bp. If it still continues to be high as mentioned above you can increase the dose from 25 to 50 mg. That should work. N then continue monitoring her bp.

It is normal for bp to increase during the day due to physical exertion or stress, generally bp comes back to normal upon resting for 30 minutes.
