You don't need to worry about living the next 9 months; you need to worry about living a full life today - without worry and regret. And you need to make sure you are doing everything you can to "beat" this cancer (see below) by working with your Doctors and science-backed solutions. We could die tomorrow. An earthquake destroys the building. A robber shoots us. We get hit by a car. Part of living life is accepting that death waits just around the corner. Forget about the 9 months, start living your life today and every day - right now. Whether 9 months, 5 years or tomorrow; die with dignity and honor. Die knowing you have lived your life to the fullest each and every day. And that you did everything humanly possible to make sure you lived till tomorrow. Information is Life This is information that might help you get your head around what is happening with your body (this isn't medical advice and you must speak with your doctor about any information here.). It's great that you are sharing your situation - now go speak with a cancer specialist. Survival Rates : that 9 months to live is a lot more complicated. What the doctor likely said / meant is that you are 100% likely to live the next 9 months (without treatment) and after that it gets complicated. For your age, gender, type of cancer, etc you will have a % likelihood to live 5 years or longer. Especially if the cancer responds to treatment or goes into remission. 1. Remission : with proper treatment and management, there is a chance your cancer will go into remission. This can extend your life and you could live much longer / a full life. 2. Health : whether you have 9 months at 100% or 5 years at 20% you want to prepare yourself to be part of the survivors. This means talking with your doctor about how to maximize your survival chance. A mix of regular exercise, a healthy diet focused on recovering from chemotherapy and keeping up with treatment is all part of the package. 3. Some Pushback I noticed a number of answers mention "my friend was given x to live and ended up living y". This is common and explained by two specific things - "x" is a 100% survival rate - most/all people with cancer will live x or longer. Also, sudden remission is part of cancer science. It happens. We don't know why. Cancer is mutation. Mutation is hard to predict. If your cancer goes into sudden remission and you were meditating and eating grass at the time; that only proves that you are amazingly lucky. Meditation and grass didn't "cure" your cancer. It will come back. Everyone has cancer inside all the time. It's just a question - when will it spiral out of control?"cure
