Dear lybrate-user, depression of this severity needs to be treated, probably with hospital admission to prevent suicide. Please know that paxidep will start its action only after 2-3 weeks. Till then depression and anxiety will take its course in severity. With proper and regular treatment, no person living with depression, will take 5 years to get rid of it. Please follow the psychiatrist's instruction and meet her/him repeatedly for better management. 12.5 mg is a low dose. Always doctors start with a low dose. After 2 weeks, it will be increased depending upon the response. In your age, with your weight, there may be other medical and hormonal causes adding to your depression. They also need to be treated simultaneously.

Hello lybrarate user. I understand your concerns about your mood disorders. Don't lose heart. Paxidep is very good medicine for your problems. But, it takes a minimum of 2 weeks to exert its action on your mood. Since its been only 5 days you started, 0 effect, as you mentioned is invalid. Please stick to the medication, and also I would suggest you ask your psychiatrist for talk therapy or psychological counseling along with your medications which may help you a lot to feel better. If you are unable to get a counselor/psychologist, Lybrate is here to help you to get one.
