Am 31. When am pregnant I got hypothyroid am little weak. My doc given 25 mcg eltroxin tablet. After delivery post 6 weeks my blood work done and tsh levels are 2.38. And now 4 months post delivery and did blood test again increased 3.78 am using medicine.(the tsh levels are by medicine and with empty stomach). My doc said need to continue meds for life. Am feeding my baby. Doctor please tell me did thyroid in pregnancy wnt go away after delivery? Did I need to use meds throughout life? When should I need for blood test again?

Dear lybrate-user, it looks like you had subclinical hypothyroidism during pregnancy.in this condition thyroid problem may resolve after delivery particularly as the dose of thyroxine needed was only 25 ug during pregnancy. Now that you are 4 months post delivery, it is better to stop eltoxine tablet and recheck free t4, tsh and tpo antibodies after 3 months and take an online appointment
