Health query hi my elderly mom has had her mri showing right paracentral disc protrusion indenting right nerve root in the lateral recess region .l3/4 mum moved a heavy item and the pain started following day right side buttock only pain for 4 weeks ,now this pain has stopped on the right side and is worse on the left side buttock the pain is when she stands and try to walk and has worsened since it's been on the left side she has been put on cocodamol with no effect and tramadol no effect can you please advise mums 86 never suffered with her back ever until she bent down and moved a heavy parcel?

Hello, as she is elderly, better to avoid any strong pain killer. Tramadol paracetamol combination may be given with muscle relaxant. Gabapentin will be very helpful if suites. Take a ls brace/corset. Spinal interventional procedure should be a very distant option only if symptoms severely persists. You can consult me for doses and further advice.
