Hi I was treated for generalized anxiety disorder after accident 2 years ago. I was given recita and tofispam. After one month I started weaning them off. After that I got pregnant and had a c-section. After that I have now resumed my exercise. Earlier I was athletic but now high cardio exercises make me nauseatic easily and my heart rate also rises easily. Is it due to gad treatment that I had weaned off two years ago? Can the anti-anxiety medicine disturb heart rhythms?

Ello lybrate-user - since anti-anxiety medication was stopped 2 years ago, it is unlikely to cause any heart rhythym disturbance at present - possibly your exercise tolerance has been affected by lack of activities during pregnancy period. Gradually increase your exercise activities and hopefully in due course your strength and endurance should be back to normal - if heart rate remains persistently high or you develop palpitations, consult your doctor for having an ecg done. Hope this helps. Take care.

1 month of treatment doesn't affect your heart rhythms. This are post partum body changes. Improve arobic excercise and proper diet that will help to improve your physical complaints.

Yes ,anxiety can alter your heart rate. You may have to be re-assessed by psychiatrist to restart the medication. Are you feeding your baby?

It is not likely for that to happen after 2 years of stopping medications. Kindly check with your blood pressure and ecg.

Hello, easy fatigability and palpitations are signs of anxiety / depression or cardiac conditions or anemia also in most of the cases. Pls undergo proper physical examination including an ecg and cbc to rule out other causes. If other reports are normal then there are chances that it may be because of the reappearance of anxiety. Also if your mood is persistently low or anxious then also it indicates towards the psychological issues.

If your increasedheart rateis due toanxiety, your healthcare provider may prescribe an anti-anxiety medication, called an anxiolytic. Thesemedicationswill help you to relax. It is important to take thesemedicationsonly when you are feelinganxious. Some of these drugscanmake mood disorders worse, such as depression andanxiety. Some bronchodilators, medicinesthat open up airways in your lungs, may alsocause anxiety, even if you didn't have it before. They include: albuterol (proventil)

It is unlikely that anxiety medications have caused the heart rhythm changes, rather you may be having relapse of anxiety. The medications prescribed at that time seem good. It would be wise of you to get a psychiatrist opinion and move forward. Good luck.

Dear madam it is unlikely because of medication, rather I would attribute it to exercise. Medication doesn't have that long lasting effect. Infact relapse of gad may cause these symptoms. What I would suggest is try to reduce the duration of exercise and see whether it helps. If not and problem is sever you should try medication.
