If taken only for 3 days then it won't cause any harm. Do not worry. However it is habit forming when taken for long time. U can take it on sos basis ie as and when required. To help reduce anxiety you can practice meditation and relaxation exercises instead. Sleep adequately and follow a healthy diet. That is sufficient at your age. If anxiety is severe then it might need medications. If you have any problems you can always consult a psychiatrist. We are happy to help.

Alprazolam is given for immediate relief. But it's only prescribed for short term ie 2-3 weeks max. As it has habit forming potential if taken for long. Since you are very young, I would suggest you to take it only on sos basis ie only if required whenever you feel anxious. If you are feeling ok then don't take medications on that day. This way you shall take it once a while and not everyday. Hence reducing the risk of addiction to the medication.

Any physical discomfort or symptom if present for long time can be a source of stress. It ought to make you feel anxious and depressed. It's understandable. It can happen to anyone in your place. But please be calm. Firstly you have to find the root cause of the problem. Have you shown to an ent specialist for your nose block? Secondly sometimes it might be allergic, seasonal or perennial. Thirdly you must avoid triggers that cause nose block e.g. Air conditioner, eating refrigerated food and drinks, etc. Find out your triggers. You must understand that it's only a symptom. You are not suffering from any major physical illness so don't worry. Besides this if there's any other stress in your like that can also trigger depression. Please consult for detailed evaluation and treatment if required.

If I take .5 mg of lorazepam for night panic attack every other night would it get addictive?
Lorazepam has addiction potential but when taken for long time. You should not take it for more than 2-3 weeks at a time if you r taking it continuously. Besides it's only prescribed for immediate and temporary relief. It's not the primary treatment. If your symptoms of panic are controlled then you need not take it every night. Instead you can take it on sos basis, as and when required. This way you will be at lesser risk of developing addiction.

Its not a big problem if you want to solve by ayurved. Do not expect fancy or flavoured medicine. Natural ayurvedic medicine are capable of treating this problem and not just symptomatic relief. For your anxiety problem also I may suggest you very simple pranayam techniques for about 10 minutes a day. You have to be honest to yourself to implement it as advised. Pl consult for details. Your chat or talk on private Lybrate chat is strictly between doctor and you and can not be accessed by third person. You will be as happy as ever.

Please wait a couple of days - sometimes these are due to excessive stress. Can't be diagnosed as another episode based upon a single experience. But, if these episodes recur, it might be that the anxiety is coming back. In that case, consult a psychiatrist.

My doctor is changing me from sertraline 200 mg to escitalopram 20 mg, because of ongoing side effects on sertraline. This is the cross taper schedule: for 6-7 days: reduce from 200 mg to 150 mg sertraline further 6-7 days: reduce from 150 mg to 100 mg sertraline further 6-7 days: reduce from 100 mg sertraline to 50 mg sertraline and add 5 mg escitalopram further 6-7 days: reduce 50 mg sertraline to 25 mg sertraline, increase escitalopram to 10 mg. To finish: stop sertraline altogether, continue with 20 mg escitalopram. Does this cross taper seem okay? I am trying to reduce the risk of sertraline withdrawal. I also have a fear of vomiting. Is this schedule likely to make me vomit? Or should I avoid most withdrawal? I am on my second week now, so I am now on 100 mg sertraline. What side effects can be expected when going from 150 mg-100 mg sertraline? Thanks for the help and information.

Withdrawal effects are expected when drug is tapered abruptly. In your case your doctor has given you a correct schedule of tapering sertraline slowly over every week. It's unlikely that you will get any withdrawal effects when you r already on 100 mg sertraline. Please don’t worry. If you are still getting nauseous or feeling like vomiting then it's better to take any antacid like t.pan-d on empty stomach in the morning before breakfast. You can take sertraline/ escitalopram after breakfast. That should help.
