I am on istamet50/500 mg and gibtulio 10 mg o.d for my diabetes since 4 years hba1c 6.5 egfr79 ml/min/1.73m2 urea 13. 7 mg,/dl creatinine .99 mg/dl what are the alarming levels efgr urea creatinine to discontinue istamet 50/500 and gibtulio I will be happy to get pin point clarification for my doubt regarding those above mentioned drugs from endocrinologist (diabetic specialist) thanking you sir I am 69 years old.

These medicines should be avoided in moderate to severe kidney dysfunction. Your urea and creatinine are normal. Implication of egfr is not clear. Better to discuss with treating physician who knows your clinical profile.

Mr N Nagegeswara Rao, Thanks for the query. Looking at your glucose levels & HbA1c%, diabetes is very well controlled. Plus urea and creatinine levels are also very much in normal range. As regards eGFR (estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate) which tells about how ones kidneys are functioning. Even that is quite good. With age and presence of diabetes does result in reduction of GFR. But the present level is again quite good. There is no reason to worry at all. Please continue to maintain good glucose control and continue following a good lifestyle that you are following now.
