Since few days I was feeling pain in my chest area and sometimes pain happen in stomach. (not everyday). I got my blood tests done and there is increase in lipoprotein a lp (a) which is 92.8 mg/dl. And cholesterol levels are normal in report. I have thyroid also whose values are in normal range. I consume thyrox 100 daily. What are the risks here? Thanks.

You do not need any medication for both hypothyroidism and increased lp a these are due to faulty diet, and lifestyle changes hypothyroidism is a lifestyle disease which requires no medicine .it can be completely cured with diet and lifestyle changes alone. No need for lifelong treatment unless 1) you have got your thyroid removed by surgery or 2) has been destroyed by radiation to neck for cancer. Do not blindly believe what your doctors say. Do not get misguided. Get educated about your disease first before getting medicated thyronorm./thyrox/ synthroid / eltroxin which are all synthetic t4 may or may not be the correct drug you need. Do the right tests for thyroid gland function 7 tests and not the only 3 t4, t3 tsh done by your Dr. It is incomplete t4 -inactive hormone - t3 is the active hormone. T4 has to get converted to t3 in the presence of a healthy liver, healthy gut and adequate amounts of certain specific vitamins and minerals. T4 is useless unless it is converted to t3. Dose adjustment in hypothyroid based on normal standard lab tsh ranges is completely wrong. Your labs will be normal but you will still have symptoms like fatigue, constipation, hair loss ,inability to loose weight, brain fog etc triggers for hypothyroidism includes chemicals in your food, water, cooking oils, stress, infections, cosmetics etc. If you want lifelong medications and control your disease stay with your current doctor if you want to cure your disease by doing the proper tests and getting dietary plans with recipes and get off medications come to me the choice is yours.
