My younger brother's bilirubin direct is 0. 4, total is 3.04 mg/ dl, Indirect is 2.55 mg/ dl, Other lft tests are normal. Blood smear as below rbc- rbc mass is increased (+), microcytic rbc (+), hypochromic rbcs (++), mild anisopoikilocytosis. Few pencil cells. acanthosis, tear drop cells, target cells& occasional polychromatic cells seen. Wbc band forms seen along with occasional reactive lymphocytes. No atypical cells found. platelets adequate parasites not detected advice serum iron profile. Reticulocyte count, Lft, hb electrophoresis. Investigations to rule out bacterial infection. I am very confused. Please suggest me. What should I do. Under which speciality should I treat him. Please suggest.

Hi, Lybrate user, he should take, plenty of water in small intervals. His diet be easily digestible on time. Give him homoeopathic medicine, underlying: @ chelidoniumq -10. Drops,thrice with little water. Avoid, junk food, alcohol and nicotine. Tk, care.
