I had taken diane 35 for pcos due to sudden severe hair fall and widening parts ,also irregular menstrual cycle. After taking this medication for 1 year I stopped. But even after more than one year of stopping periods are more or less regularized but it is very watery and time length has shortened.(accompanied by vaginal dryness) and hair gaps have all reduced but I am losing hair from all over the scalp with no growth which isn't the type of hair loss I was facing. Hemoglobin, tsh all normal. Please suggest the list of hormonal tests I need to do to consult further.

Hello. Pcos is associated with increased insulin and increased androgen level in the body. Obesity seen in pcos also contribute to hyperinsulinemia and hyperadrogenemia. The hair fall may be due to increased androgen level but other causes like thyroid disorder, localised scalp disease, dandruff, fungal infection of scalp should also be ruled out. You need to decrease body weight, take low calorie food, brisk walk daily for 30 minutes, ensure dandruff free hair and a scalp check up by a dematologist. Blood test for tsh, ft4,sugar, prl, total testosterone, dheas may be done.
