Most common reason for shivering is infection. It can be trivial like common cold to serious type like developing pneumonia or urinary tract infection. So keep an eye on his body temperature which might develop sooner or later on. Make him eat something, low blood sugar can cause this. Stress can induce shivering. The reason could be related to school, friends, family etc. If his hands and feet are cold, cover him for some time and check the body temperature with a thermometer in his armpit for 3 minutes. If he develops fever or shivering doesn't disappear then visit a paediatrician.
