I am a 19 year old female. I have been experiencing extreme pain during periods. Periods last from about 2 days to 3 days at most.

Take aspirin: For mild menstrual cramps, take aspirin or another nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, such as ibuprofen or naproxen. These types of drugs prevent pain by blocking prostaglandins from being released. Avoid this type of medication if you have stomach problems, such as ulcers.

Place a heating pad or hot water bottle on your lower back or abdomen. Rest when needed. Give yourself a little massage where it hurts. Exercise-- Get Moving to Relieve Symptoms. Walking, running, Yoga etc. Avoid foods that contain caffeine. Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol.
