Sir, i'm diabetic and taking metformin 500 mg twice a day .I done my urine test 4 months ago .Urine albumin and micro albumin test was negative and creatine level was .76. Now I feel more urinate on day about 3/4 times but in night its normal .Urine color is normal .Is it a sign of any kidney disease related to diabetes .Please give me a guide line.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. The information is very general. There is no mention of fasting, PP glucose levels, HbA1c%, weight, height, diet pattern, extent of exercise, lipid profile, BP readings & age, so it is difficult to give any comments. In diabetes when glucose levels are well controlled, kidneys do not getaffected easily. However, when disease goes on for 20 to 30 years or longer, kidneys do get damaged. Excess urination occurs if glucose levels are above 180 mg. Well controlled diabetes with fasting < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% < 6.8, reduces all the symptoms. Thanks.
