Dear Lybrateuser, - Taking supplements regularly for a long time can have side effects - the best natural source of vit d is exposure to natural sunlight for 20-39 min daily between 9-1 or 2 o'clock in the morning - also diet rich in vit d is the other alternative, foods like fish such as salmon, tuna, mackeral, organ meats, eggs, fortified dairy products, soya products, orange juice & cereals are rich sources of vit d.
