In most of the cases it is the genetic cause. It may also happen to anybody (even to people who have no genetic background. It is observed that a bad lifestyle (sedentary lifestyle, obesity, smoking and excessive alcohol intake etc) can trigger diabetes. Read more about Diabetes in detail from the internet. More important aspect of its management is to be vigilant and take good care of your health. Adapt a healthy lifestyle and follow the instructions of your doctor. Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. T1 DM is an autoimmune disease, where there are antibodies seen againstbeta cells of pancreas, which destroy those cells. This leads to lack of insulin and later total absence of it. This disease usually sets in early life. These patients have to depend on Insulin injections for glucose control as well as for their daily metabolic needs. Thanks.
