I am 27 years old. My fasting blood sugar was tested to be 113. I have no symptoms as such. My lymphocytes were observed to be a little above normal range as well. Am I heading towards diabetes?

lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query. Blood glucose 113 mg/ 100 ml is suggestive of Pre-diabetes. Following are the considerations to diagnose diabetes: 1) Normal: Fasting: 70 to 100 mg, PP <140 mg, HbA1c% <5.7 2) Pre- Diabetes: FBG: 101 to 125 mg, PP 141 to 199 mg, HbA1c% 5.7 to 6.4 3) Diabetes:FBG 126 mg and above, PP 200 mg and above, HbA1c% 6.5 and above. So it appears you are in a prediabetes situation. Taking certain precautions like avoiding sweets, taking exact calories as needed, maintaining normal weight and exercising regularly should help. Thanks.
