Dear lybrateuser, - It is best to stop it completely, choose a date & stop altogether as if you try to do it gradually the it becomes difficult to give up & can increase in friend company - remove all the cigarettes from your house, divert your mind in other activities, do regular exercise, can chew a nicotene gum if urge is too much.
