Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Following are criteria to decide whether one is having diabetes or not. 1) Pre-diabetes: Fasting glucose: 108 to 125 mg, PP 141 to 199 mg & HbA1c% 5.9 to 6.4. 2) Diabetes FBG: 126 mg and above, PP 200 mg and above & HbA1c% 6.5% and above. When a person has excellent control then FBG should be <100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c%<6.8. In your case there is no mention of whether level is fasting or PP. Plus no mention of HbA1c%, drugs being taken, exercise being done and current dietary practice. So in such a situation recommending a diet is difficult. It has to be based on multiple factors. However, following foods should be avoided: sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items, colas, items made out of maida. Increase the intake of green leafy vegetables, salads and permitted fruits (about 100 g a day). Refrain from smoking and alcohol. Take small quantities of meal more number of times but total quantity should be with in given limits. Thanks.
